Member of the cinematic Kapoor family, Balbir Raj Kapoor, popularly known as Shashi Kapoor, was an Indian actor, director and film producer. Recipient of several accolades including Padma Bhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the youngest son of the actor Prithviraj Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor started his acting career in Bollywood as a child artist in the movies like Aag (1948), Sangram (1950), Awaara (1951), etc. As an adult, he started his career with Yash Chopra’s 1961 film Dharmputra. Some important movies of his career include Aamne Saamne (1967), Aa Gale Lag Jaa (1973), Roti Kapda Aur Makan (1974), Kabhi Kabhie (1976), Doosara Aadmi (1977), Baseraa (1981), Krodhi (1981), Aandhi Toofan (1985) and many more. He married an English actress, Jennifer Kendal in 1958, with whom he had three children, actors Kunal, Karan and Sanjana Kapoor.
