Bade Ghar Ki Beti is a family drama. The movie revolves around Thakur Din Dayal (Shammi Kapoor) and his family. He lives in
a palatial house with his wife, three married sons and their wives, an unmarried son, Gopal (Rishi Kapoor) and a daughter. Other
than Gopal, all of his sons are lazy and only enjoy their father’s wealth. Thakur gets Gopal married to Mala (Meenakshi
Seshadri), who comes from a poor family but is well-mannered. Mala, unlike the rest of the daughter-in-laws, is sweet and takes
good care of Thakur and his wife. However, when Thakur dies, Gopal, along with Mala, moves out to make a career in singing.
