Bade Ghar Ki Beti is a family drama. The movie revolves around Thakur Din Dayal (Shammi Kapoor) and his family. He lives in a palatial house with his wife, three married sons and their wives, an unmarried son, Gopal (Rishi Kapoor) and a daughter. Other than Gopal, all of his sons are lazy and only enjoy their father’s wealth. Thakur gets Gopal married to Mala (Meenakshi Seshadri), who comes from a poor family but is well-mannered. Mala, unlike the rest of the daughter-in-laws, is sweet and takes good care of Thakur and his wife. However, when Thakur dies, Gopal, along with Mala, moves out to make a career in singing. Meanwhile, his three brothers and their wives mortgage all their father’s property and throw out their ill mother. What will happen when Gopal and Mala learn the truth? Will the couple be able to make things right for their family?
