Ground Zero is a story based on true events set in Kashmir in 2001 that narrates the story of Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey (Emraan Hashmi), a BSF Deputy Commandant stationed in Kashmir who is informed that the ‘pistol gang’ has become quite active in Srinagar who misguides college-going students by brainwashing them into killing soldiers at point-blank range. For every jawan killed, they are paid Rs. 5000. Soon BSF learns that a bigger attack is being planned by the trainers of the ‘pistol gang’ and Narendra correctly guesses that the attack is planned to target a high-profile minister. Instead of attacking the Chief Minister of Kashmir, the attack is carried out at Delhi's Parliament on December 13, 2001. The responsibility for the attack is taken by Jaish-E-Mohammed's mastermind, Ghazi Baba. Narendra vows to eliminate Ghazi Baba as he takes the help of a youth, Husain (Mir Mehrooz) who reveals crucial info to set up a bloody face-off. What happens next forms the rest of the film.
