Jagdishwar Mishra aka Jolly (Akshay Kumar) is a small lawyer who practices in Lucknow and aspires to make it big by buying his own chamber in the court by hoodwinking a woman who has lost her husband in a fake encounter. On knowing that she has been duped, the woman kills herself while Jolly feels guilty of being the cause. As an act of repentance, he reopens the slain woman's husband's case to prove his innocence and make things right.
