Saali Mohabbat is a crime thriller set in a small hill station of Uttar Pradesh called Fursatgarh where Smita Tiwari (Radhika Apte), a middle-class housewife lives with her husband, Pankaj Tiwari (Anshumaan Pushkar). Smita spends her time in looking after her plantation in the backyard whereas Pankaj loses Rs. 27.55 lakhs at a local casino to the dreaded gangster, Gajendra Bhaiyya (Anurag Kashyap). To repay the debt amount, Pankaj insists Smita to sell her prime ancestral plot in Moradabad for which Smita refuses to do so. One fine day Smita’s cousin, Shalini, (Sauraseni Maitra) arrives in their town for job purposes. Shalu is accommodated in Smita's house where she and Pankaj soon get attracted to each other and begin a physical relationship. Shalu also gets involved with a local cop in that town, Ratan Pandit (Divyenndu Sharma). One day, Shalini and Pankaj are found dead in Smita’s house in her absence. What happens next forms the rest of the story.
