Anurag Kashyap is an Indian film director, producer, screenwriter and actor. He started his career as a writer for television serials. He got his big break as a co-writer in the 1998 film Satya, directed by Ram Gopal Varma. He made his directorial debut with the 2003 crime drama Paanch. Other notable movies directed by him include Dev.D (2009), Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), Ugly (2014), Ghost Stories (2020), etc. He has acted in movies like Gang (2000), Dev.D (2009), Tera Kya Hoga Johnny (2011), Akira (2016) and AK vs AK (2020). He was married to film editor Aarti Bajaj and they have a daughter, Aaliyah Kashyap, but the couple divorced in 2009. Later, he married actress Kalki Koechlin, but the marriage was short-lived and they divorced in 2015.
