Happy New Year is an action-comedy thriller that narrates the tale of Charlie (Shah Rukh Khan), a street fighter, who seeks revenge from a renowned businessman Charan Grover (Jackie Shroff). Charlie plans to steal emeralds worth INR 300 crore from a safe in Dubai and frame Charan Grover for the crime. To pull off the heist, Charlie assembles a team comprising of ex-Captain Jagmohan Prakash (Sonu Sood), an old safecracker Tehamton ‘Tammy’ Irani (Boman Irani), a young intelligent hacker Rohan Singh (Vivaan Shah), and a lookalike of Charan’s son Vicky Grover named Nandu Bhide (Abhishek Bachchan). They take the help of a bar dancer named Mohini (Deepika Padukone) to participate in the Dance competition to carry out their plan. How Charlie and his team execute their plan forms the remaining part of this interesting drama.
