Shootout at Wadala is an action crime drama that is based on the encounter by Mumbai police in which gangster Manya Surve was shot dead on 11 January 1982 at Wadala, Mumbai. Manya Surve (John Abraham), a decent college student ends up in jail after he kills a gangster for attacking his brother. Soon, Manya escapes the jail and after returning Manya forms his own gang to seek revenge, however, he welcomes more trouble for himself as the Mumbai police plans to clean up the city including Manya and his men.
