Tehzeeb is a family drama. It revolves around Tehzeeb (Urmila Matondkar), the daughter of Anwar (Rishi Kapoor) and Rukhsana (Shabana Azmi). Anwar suffers from depression and commits suicide, and Tehzeeb suspects Rukhsana, who is an ambitious and popular singer, to be reason of her father’s death. Despite the court declaring Rukhsana innocent, Tehzeeb holds a grudge against her mother for constantly neglecting her duties towards her family and deserting her and Nazeen (Dia Mirza), Tehzeeb’s mentally challenged sister. Tehzeeb gets married to Salim (Arjun Rampal) and keeps Nazeen with her. Years later, Rukhsana visits her and tries to reconcile with her daughters. Will Tehzeeb be able to forgive her mother and move on with their lives?
