He usually played supporting roles in movies. Some important movies of his career include Meri Biwi Ki Shaadi (1979), Bade Ghar Ki Beti (1989), Benaam Badsha (1991), Prem Deewane (1992), Karan Arjun (1995), Bandhan (1998), Khoobsurat (1999), Jodi No. 1 (2001), Singham (2011), etc. He is married to actress Nivedita Joshi-Saraf since 1990 and they have a son named Aniket Saraf.
