Begum Para was an Indian actress who was mostly active in the 1940s and 1950s. She was one of the most glamourous ladies of Bollywood in her times. She started her acting career in Bollywood with the 1944 film Chand, alongside Prem Adib. The movie did well at the box office and made her an overnight star. She has also acted in movies like Sohni Mahiwal (1946), Neel Kamal (1947), Suhaag Raat (1948), Laila Majnu (1953) and Kismet Ka Khel (1956). She almost disappeared from Bollywood after 1956, however, after a gap of 50 years she was seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s romantic drama Saawariya (2007), in which she played the role of lead’s grandmother. She was married to Nasir Khan, the younger brother of Dilip Kumar, and the couple had three children including actor Ayub Khan.
