Saawariya is a musical romantic drama. The movie is narrated by Gulab (Rani Mukherjee), a prostitute. She tells the story of the bar’s lead singer, Raj (Ranbir Kapoor), whom she calls “Saawariya” (beloved). Raj, unlike other men, is kind to her and other prostitutes. He falls in love with a mysterious girl named Sakina (Sonam Kapoor). Raj confesses her love for Sakina who rejects him. Sakina later reveals that she is in love with a man named Imaan (Salman Khan), who left with the promise to return for her. Raj decides to search for Imaan and unite the two lovers.
