Bhupinder Singh was a well-known playback singer and music director in Bollywood who started his music career in All India Radio where he was spotted during one of his performances by music director Madan Mohan. Music director Madan Mohan gave him his first break in Bollywood when he was given to sing the song ‘Hoke Majboor Mujhe Usna Bulaya Hoga’ along with singers Mohd. Rafi, Talat Mehmood and Manna Dey in Chetan Anand’s war-drama Haqeeqat (1964). He was known for singing in his own unique voice and play the guitar and violin for many music directors. He sang for many top music directors delivering hits like 'Beeti Na Bitaai Raina' (Parichay), 'Dil Dhoondta Hai' (Mausam), 'Do Diwane Shahar Mein' & 'Ek Akela Is Shahar Mein' (Gharaonda), 'Naam Ghum Jaayega' (Kinara), 'Kabhi Kisi Ko Mukammal' (Ahista Ahista), 'Karoge Yaad To' (Bazaar), 'Kisi Nazar Ko Tera Intezaar Aaj Bhi Hai' (Aitbaar), etc. He breathed his last in Mumbai on 18 July 2022 and is survived by his singer wife Mitali and musician son Nihal Singh.
