David Abraham Cheulkar, popularly known as David, was an Indian actor, who is best known for playing character roles in his career span of over four decades. David graduated in the 1930s and after struggling in his job for over 6 years, he decided to try his luck in movies. During his struggling phase in Bollywood, he met another character actor, Nayampalli, who helped him land a small role in the 1937 film Zambo, which marked his screen debut in Bollywood. He has also acted in films like Hamara Ghar (1950), Ek Phool Char Kaante (1960), Himalaya Ki God Mein (1965), Anupama (1966), Upkar (1967), Ek Phool Do Maali (1969), Chupke Chupke (1975), Satyam Shivam Sundaram (1978), Gol Maal (1979), etc. At the age of 72, he died of a heart attack in 1982 which marked the end of his career.
