Badruddin Jamaluddin Kazi, popularly known as Johnny Walker, was an Indian actor who acted in over 300 films in the career span of over four decades. Born in a Muslim family of mill workers, Johnny always nurtured his dream of working in films. He used to work as a bus guide and used to entertain the passengers in amusing routines. Actor Balraj Sahni was the first to notice his talent and introduce him to Guru Dutt. His demonstration of a drunkard gained him the role in Guru Dutt’s Baazi (1951). Guru Dutt also gave him his stage name Johnny Walker, a reference to the brand of Scotch Whisky. A teetotaler in real life, Johnny Walker was typecast to play the role of a hapless drunkard. Some of his best works include Taxi Driver (1954), C.I.D. (1956), Chori Chori (1956), Pyaasa (1957), Naya Daur (1957), Mere Mehboob (1963), Chachi 420 (1997), etc. In 1955, he married Noorjahan, and the couple had six children, including actor Nasir Khan.
