Manoj Kumar was an Indian actor, writer, producer, editor, lyricist, and director, remembered for his versatile performances and patriotic films. He received several awards, including the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. He made his screen debut with Lekhraj Bakhri’s social drama Fashion (1957). It was followed by his successful movies like Hariyali Aur Raasta (1962), Woh Kaun Thi? (1964), Himalay Ki God Mein (1965), Do Badan (1966), Upkar (1967), Patthar Ke Sanam (1967), Neel Kamal (1968), Purab Aur Pachhim (1970), Shor (1972), Beimaan (1972), Roti Kapada Aur Makaan (1974), Dus Numbri (1976), and Kranti (1981). He was married to Shashi Goswami and they have two sons, actors Rajiv and Manish Goswami.
