Nargis, an Indian actress, was regarded as one of the greatest actresses of Indian cinema. She is the daughter of one of the first female music composers of Bollywood, Jaddanbai. Nargis started her acting career at the age of five as a child artist in Talash-e-Haq (1935). As an adult, she made her debut in Bollywood with the 1943 comedy-drama Taqdeer, directed by Mehboob Khan. The success of her first film was followed by her other blockbuster films like Andaz (1949), Awaara (1951), Deedar (1951), Anhonee (1952), Shree 420 (1955), Chori Chori (1956), Mother India (1957), Raat Aur Din (1967), etc. In 1958, she married her co-star of Mother India (1957), Sunil Dutt, who reportedly saved her life from the fire on the sets of Mother India. The couple had three children – son and actor Sanjay Dutt, and two daughters - Namrata and Priya.
