Nishikant Kamat was a writer, actor, and director who was active in Marathi as well as Hindi filmdom. He made his directorial debut in 2005 with Dombivali Fast, a Marathi movie which received critical acclaim. He made his debut as an actor in an off-beat film titled Hava Aney Dey in 2004 and also appeared in movies like Rocky Handsome, Daddy, Julie 2 and Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, while his first film as a director in Hindi movies was the critically acclaimed movie based on the 26/11 Mumbai bomb blasts, Mumbai Meri Jaan which released in 2008. Thereafter he made successful films like Force (2011), Drishyam (2015), Rocky Hansome (2016), and Madaari (2016).
