S.P. Venkatesh was a renowned composer who was celebrated for crafting unforgettable melodies and powerful background scores. He died at his Chennai residence on 3 February 2026 after suffering cardiac arrest at the age of 70. He rose to prominence with the Malayalam film 'Rajavinte Makan' (1986), and followed it up with 500 songs across Tamil, Kannada, Bengali, and Hindi cinema. He provided some unforgettable background scores for Hindi movies like 'Muskurahat', 'Mera Dil Tere Liye', 'Gardish', 'Virasat', 'Yeh Teraa Ghar Yeh Meraa Ghar', 'Hungama' and 'Kyon Ki'.
