Badhaai Do is a romantic comedy-drama set in the city of Dehradun where Shardul Thakur (Rajkummar Rao) is a cop who happens to confront Suman Singh (Bhumi Pednekar) a physical trainer at a school, with whom he enters into a marriage of convenience. Suman who is in a lesbian relationship with another girl and Shardul who reveals that he is gay, plan to marry to keep their respective parent's mouths shut. All seems to be fine after their marriage of convenience but chaos ensues when Suman’s girlfriend comes to stay with them and yet again gives way to others to wag. What do Suman and Shardul do, do they reveal their reality or cook up a story to conceal it?
