Coolie No.1 is a remake of the 1995 film of the same name, the film begins with Pandit Jai Kishan (Javed Jafferi), a marriage broker who gets an alliance for the rich Jeffrey Rozario’s (Paresh Rawal) daughter Sarah Rozario (Sara Ali Khan). On knowing that the prospective groom is not as rich as him, Rozario rejects the alliance and humiliates Jai Kishan. In order to teach Rozario a lesson Jai Kishan gets Raju (Varun Dhawan), a railway station porter, to dress up and behave like a business tycoon to trap Rozario in getting his daughter married to Raju. Raju marries Sarah but to hide his reality cooks up a story to make her stay in a poor locality. Rozario catches Raju dressed as a porter and smells foul as he gets down to probe the truth behind the latter’s transformation.
