Dhurandhar is based on true events and set against the backdrop of Air India’s 1999 IC-814 hijacking and the shocking attack on the Parliament of India on December 13, 2001. In 2002, External Affairs Minister Devarat Kapoor (Akash Khurana) accepts Ajay Sanyal’s (R. Madhavan), Chief of IB, proposal of ‘Operation Dhurandhar’ to infiltrate Pakistan and create havoc. Two years later, an undercover Indian secret agent (Ranveer Singh) enters Pakistan with the identity of Hamza Ali Mazari. Hamza gets employed at a juice shop in Lyari, Karachi, where he happens to save the elder son of a renowned local gangster, Rehman Balochi aka Rehman Dacait (Akshaye Khanna). Hamza wins Rehman’s trust and joins his gang. Rehman is close to local politician Jameel Jamali (Rakesh Bedi), who brings back suspended police officer Chaudhary Aslam (Sanjay Dutt) into the force to keep a check on Rehman. On the other hand, Rehman becomes friendly with Major Iqbal (Arjun Rampal), ISI, and happily helps the latter in his war against India. Since Hamza is a core member of Rehman's gang, he also gets first-hand information on the ISI's strategies against India. While Hamza is working for the sake of his country, he falls in love with Jameel's daughter, Yalina (Sara Arjun). What happens next forms the remaining part of this action spy thriller drama.
