Ek Chadar Maili Si is a social drama. The movie follows the story of a young woman named Ranno (Hema Malini), with her husband, Trilok (Kulbhushan Kharbanda), who is a carriage driver. Ranno’s life turns upside down, when her husband is killed in an accident, and she is left alone. Soon after, due to the family pressure, Ranno is forced to get married to her brother-in-law, Mangal (Rishi Kapoor), who is in love with a gypsy girl Raji (Poonam Dhillon). Out of frustration, Mangal abuses Ranno every day. Will Ranno ever be able to escape the hell of life she has been leading?
