Gandhi My Father is a biographical drama. The movie revolves around Harilal (Akshaye Khanna), the eldest son of Mahatma Gandhi. Harilal was distressed when he didn’t get the opportunity to go abroad for further studies. All his attempts to make money fail and devastated Harilal turns to alcohol for solace. He converts to Islam, but later re-converts to Hinduism. The rift between Gandhi and Harilal grows beyond repair because of the political tension. They were never able to reconcile as Harilal found it difficult to live in the shadow of his father.
