Gumrah is an action crime drama. The movie revolves around a young girl named Roshni (Sridevi), the only child of Sharda Chadda (Reema Lagoo). Her father abandoned her mother before she was born. Sharda learns that she is suffering from a fatal illness, thus she sends Roshni to Mumbai, so she could learn to live without her. There, Roshni meets Rahul (Rahul Roy), who learns about Roshni’s interest to be a singer and helps her to grow in her career. Roshni has a huge fan named Jagannath a.k.a. Jaggu (Sanjay Dutt), who is a petty thief and is in love with her. When Roshni meets Jaggu, she rejects him. Later, Roshni learns that her father is alive, so she travels to Hong Kong with Rahul to find him, but during her trip, she is arrested for the possession of cocaine, while Rahul runs away. When Jaggu learns about this, he brings an attorney to help Roshni. Will Jaggu be able to help Roshni prove her innocence?
