Holiday: A Soldier is Never off Duty is an action thriller that is a remake of the 2012 Tamil film Thuppaki. It follows the story of Virat Bakshi (Akshay Kumar), a Captain in DIA, a secret wing of the Indian Army, who returns home to Mumbai on a holiday. On his arrival, Virat accidentally bumps into a terrorist who plans to rip apart Mumbai with a series of bomb blasts. Virat learns that 12 sleeper cell agents plan to execute serial blasts in Mumbai. To protect the city, Virat gathers a team of soldiers to protect the city from impending danger. On knowing that the sleeper cells were terminated by Virat, the mastermind behind the terror group comes out of his hiding and takes up the mantle to avenge his defeat by trapping Virat.
