Kaamchor is a family comedy drama that follows the story of a slacker and idler named Suraj (Rakesh Roshan), who has hated working hard all his life. His life turns when he falls in love with a beautiful and wealthy girl named Geeta (Jaya Prada), and gets married to her. He is sure that after the marriage he will get to live with his wealthy in-laws and would not have to work again. However, to his dismay, Geeta decides to move out of his family and demands Suraj to work hard and earn a living. This leaves Suraj shocked and he demands for a share in the property of his father-in-law. How this impacts their married life and how Geeta helps Suraj mend his ways form the rest of the plot.
