Rakesh Roshan is an actor, writer, producer, and director who started his career by acting in the 1970 family drama Ghar Ghar Ki Kahani. He is mainly known for playing the lead as well as supporting roles in more than 80 films throughout the 70s and late 80s. He has not only acted along with lead actors like Dev Anand, Dharmendra, Mithun Chakraborty, Sanjeev Kumar, Rishi Kapoor, and Rajesh Khanna but also romanced top actresses like Hema Malini, Rekha, Sridevi, Jaya Prada, Sarika, Bindiya Goswami, and Rati Agnihotri. Later, he shifted to directing films which began with the letter "K" since making his debut in 1987 with Khudgarz. His most notable works as a filmmaker have been Khoon Bhari Maang (1988), Kishen Kanhaiya (1990), Karan Arjun (1995), Koyla (1997), Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai (2000), and the science fiction Koi... Mil Gaya (2003) along with the superhero Krrish series (2006—2013). He has won the Filmfare Award for Best Director for directing Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai and Koi... Mil Gaya. He is the son of the late music director Roshan, while his brother is music director Rajesh Roshan, his wife Pinky is the daughter of filmmaker J. Om Prakash and his son is actor Hrithik Roshan.
