Rohit (Hrithik Roshan) is an aspiring singer who lives with his younger brother and works as a salesman in a car showroom. Rohit meets a rich girl named Sonia (Amisha Patel) and falls in love but her father is against the match. Rohit is eliminated by Sonia's father as Sonia is made to leave for New Zealand where she meets Rohit's lookalike Raj. Raj falls in love with Sonia and follows her back to India where Rohit's killers try to kill Raj thinking that the former is still alive. What happens next leads to a pulsating climax in this romantic thriller.
