Laal Singh Chaddha is an Indian adaptation of the 1994 Hollywood film Forrest Gump. The film is the story of an extraordinary man’s journey named Laal Singh Chaddha (Aamir Khan) who is born in 1971 to Gurpreet (Mona Singh). Gurpreet raises Laal all by herself after separating from her husband in the village of Karoli near Pathankot, Punjab. As a young boy Laal is fitted with leg braces and finds it difficult to walk and often becomes an object of ridicule in school. But his friendship with Rupa (Kareena Kapoor) helps him overcome his handicap despite having a low IQ. Laal one day realizes he can run faster than anyone else and ends up becoming a champion in many tournaments. In due course he falls in love with Rupa who later shifts to Mumbai to become a model and actress. Thus, starts a journey that takes Laal through the years he lived witnessing major events in India that took place including the Kargil War in 1999. What happens next forms the rest of the film.
