Maqbool is a crime drama, based on William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, with the Mumbai underworld as its backdrop. The movie follows the story of Miyan Maqbool (Irrfan Khan), the right-hand man of Jahangir Khan ‘Abba Ji’ (Pankaj Kapur), a powerful underworld don. Their close connection makes it predictable that Maqbool will be the next leader of Mumbai Underworld after Abba Ji dies. Maqbool falls in love with Nimmi (Tabu), Abba Ji’s mistress, who encourages Maqbool and persuades him to kill Abba Ji and take over after him. This causes a dilemma for Maqbool as he has to choose between his love for Nimmi and loyalty towards Abba Ji. What will he choose?
