Tabassum Fatima Hashmi, popularly known as Tabu, is an Indian actress, who is one of the most accomplished actresses of Bollywood. She started her career in Bollywood as a teenager in Dev Anand’s Hum Naujawan (1985). As an adult, she made her debut in Bollywood with the 1994 action drama Vijaypath, alongside Ajay Devgn, for which she received Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. Her other important movies include Maachis (1996), Saajan Chale Sasural (1996), Virasat (1997), Chachi 420 (1997), Hum Saath Saath Hain (1999), Astitva (2000), Chandni Bar (2001), Maqbool (2003), Cheeni Kum (2007), Haider (2014), Drishyam (2015), etc. Tabu is the niece of actress Shabana Azmi and the younger sister of actress Farah Naaz. She is the recipient of several accolades and in 2011, she was honoured with Padma Shri by the government of India for her contributions to Indian cinema.
