Mohalla Assi is a social drama set in Varanasi which has Dharmnath Pandey (Sunny Deol) playing the main protagonist who teaches Sanskrit in the afternoon and in the morning sits on the Assi Ghat to perform the last rites of the deads. The story unfolds when Dharmnath Pandey must face the conflict between his principles and harsh realities of life and a take on religion including one’s culture and civilization.
