The story of Mulk revolves around Murad Ali Mohammed (Rishi Kapoor) who is wrongly framed for sheltering his son in his house who reportedly was a jihadi. Without Murad Ali knowing the reality of his son, is arrested by the police and made to prove that he is a true Indian Muslim and not a terrorist and an Indian as much as any other Indian Hindu. What follows is an intense hard-hitting courtroom drama which is fought with the support of defense lawyer Aarti Mohammed (Taapsee Pannu).
