Prem Ratan Dhan Payo is a family romantic drama. Yuvraj Vijay Singh (Salman Khan) is a wealthy crown prince but due to his stiff nature and stubbornness, he faces problems with his brother and sisters. Vijay is engaged to Rajkumari Maithili Devi (Sonam Kapoor), a princess of neighbouring kingdom. Vijay’s half-brother, Yuvraj Ajay Singh (Neil Nitin Mukesh) plots an assassination to become the next crowned king. However, Vijay escapes the assassination but is severely injured. Just before Ajay is set to be crowned as the king, Diwan Sahib (Anupam Kher), brings Vijay’s lookalike Prem to take up his place, while Vijay recovers. Meanwhile, Maithili falls in love with Prem, not realizing that he is not Yuvraj Vijay but his look alike. What happens next forms the climax of this interesting drama.
