Raanjhanaa is a musical romantic drama that revolves around Kundan Shankar (Dhanush), a Brahmin from Varanasi, who falls in love with Zoya (Sonam Kapoor), a Muslim girl. Kundan finds out that Zoya loves a man named Akram (Abhay Deol), who belongs to her community, and decides to forget Zoya and move on.
