Secret Superstar is a musical family drama that revolves around Insia Malik (Zaira Wasim), an ambitious school-going girl who belongs to an orthodox Gujarati Muslim family in Baroda. She dreams of becoming a singer but faces opposition from her father. Despite all hindrances, Insia with her mother’s support strives to follow her passion by anonymously posting her songs on the internet which become an instant hit. Her songs catch the eye of music director Shakti Kumar (Aamir Khan) who gives her a break. Insia manages to break all barriers and win the coveted trophy in the best singer talent contest.
