Esmayeel Shroff was a writer and director who predominantly worked in the Hindi film industry. After graduating in sound engineering, he headed to Mumbai to start off as an assistant director to A. Bheem Singh on the film Sadhu Aur Shaitaan in 1968. He made his directorial debut in 1977 with the suspense thriller Agar… If starring Amol Palekar, Zarina Wahab and Vijayendra Ghatge. Some of his noted works have been hits like Thodisi Bewafaii, Bulundi, Ahista Ahista, Love 86, Suryaa, Police Public, Nishchaiy, God and Gun, Tarkieb, etc. He also wrote films like Bulundi, Thodisi Bewafaii, etc. He breathed his last at the age of 65 in Mumbai on 26 October 2022 after suffering a heart attack.
