Sharda Sinha was an Indian folk and classical singer who predominantly sang in Maithili, Hindi, and Bhojpuri language films. Popularly called Bihar Kokila, the cuckoo of Bihar, she made her Bollywood playback signing debut in 'Rivaaj' in 1972 and thereafter sang in popular films like 'Paapi Pet K Sawaal Hai', 'Maine Pyar Kiya', 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun', 'Gangs of Wasseypur Part II' and others. She received the Padma Shri award for her contribution to music in 2000, the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, and the Padma Bhushan in 2018. She breathed her last in New Delhi on 05 November 2024.
