Devdas is the eternal romantic story by Sarat Chandra Chatterjee which epitomizes the love of Devdas (Shah Rukh Khan) for Paro (Aishwarya Rai). Devdas comes from a rich zamindar family who falls for the beautiful Paro but due to the difference in stature, Paro is married off to an elderly widower zamindar. Devdas cannot fathom that Paro has become someone else's and hits the bottle. Though Devdas finds solace in a nauch girl Chandramukhi (Madhuri Dixit) but due to excessive drinking succumbs to his internal woes in front of Paro.
