Gadar 2 is the sequel to Gadar: Ek Prem Katha released in 2001. The story fast forwards to 1971 when Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) lives happily with his wife Sakina (Ameesha Patel) and their young son Jeete (Utkarsh Sharma). Back in Pakistan, Pakistan Army General Hamid Iqbal (Manish Wadhwa) is the man on whose instance Ashraf Ali (Amrish Puri) has been hanged and once again reigns supreme. Meanwhile, the Indian army is preparing to go to war with Pakistan where Lieutenant Colonel Devendra Rawat (Gaurav Chopra) requests Tara to help him rescue a particular army unit that is stuck at the border during the war with the Pakistani army. During the rescue operation the Pakistani army happens to capture several Indian soldiers and truck drivers, and is presumed that Tara has been imprisoned in Kot Lakhpat jail in Pakistan. On hearing Tara’s whereabouts Sakeena turns hysterical while Jeete is unable to bear his mother’s condition. Jeete soon decides to go to Pakistan on a fake passport to find his father and meets Gul Khan aka Gullu (Mushtaq Khan) and Ashraf Ali’s brother Abdul Ali (Ehsan Khan). Jeete disguises as a cook in the house of Kurban Khan where he falls in love with the latter’s daughter Muskaan (Simrat Kaur), who also falls for him. It is later realized that Tara is alive and returns home where Sakina discloses that Jeete has gone to Pakistan in search of him. What happens next forms the rest of the film’s plot.
