Khuda Gawah is an action, romantic drama set in Afghanistan where two rival tribal communities fight for supremacy, one headed by Badshah Khan (Amitabh Bachchan) and the other headed by Benazir (Sridevi). Badshah Khan falls in love with Benazir after getting defeated in a game of buzkashi. Benazir lays down a condition to get married to Badshah only if he brings back the head of her father's killer, Habibullah, from India. Badshah kills Habibullah and on return marries Benazir but soon after marriage has to surrender to the police for killing Habibullah in India. Badshah undergoes imprisonment for 20 years while Benazir brings up her daughter Mehndi (Sridevi, in double role) only to go insane. On knowing the truth about her father Mehndi vows to get her father back from India to reunite her parents through a series of incidents.
