The filmmakers put all their heart and soul in making the movie and show their creativity and thoughts on the silver screen, and therefore, it becomes important for the filmmakers to give the right name to the movie, with which it will be associated forever. While sometimes, moviemakers give a simple name to the movie, which is inspired by the lead character of the movie or its main theme, other times, they go to a great extent to give it the most creative name that it deserves. The 1952 fantasy drama Shin Shinaki Boobla Boo, directed by P. L. Santoshi, features Rehana and Ranjan in the lead role. The movie follows the story of a young girl named Shin Shinaki (Rehana), who lost her parents when she was too young. Growing up she learns about the culprits behind her parents’ death and decides to avenge their death. She gains help from her best friend, a gangster named Boobla Boo (Ranjan). Thus, this weird Bollywood movie title takes its inspiration from the lead character names Shin Shinaki and Boobla Boo.

2. Jal Bin Machhli Nritya Bin Bijli (1971)

The movie follows the story of a young woman named Alaknanda (Sandhya), the character played by actress Sandhya, who loves to dance and sing. She leads a wealthy lifestyle with her widowed father; however, she decides to run away from her home as she doesn’t wish to marry the groom her father chooses for her. The movie gets this name to denote the current situation of the main character, Alaknanda, according to which, Alaknanda and dance are just like machhli (fish) and jal (water).

3. Murde Ki Jaan Khatre Mein (1984)

The 1984 psychological drama Murde Ki Jaan Khatre Mein, directed by Navin Kumar, revolves around a young couple. Actors Roma Manik and Kunal Kapoor play the lead role of lovers in the movie. The two lovers are madly in love; however, things take a turn when the boy dies, which leaves the girl devastated. However, she continues to pretend that her lover is still alive and is healthy. Sometime later, she learns that there is someone planning to get her lover killed, but he is already dead, which makes the perfect sense of the title, which means that the corpse's life is in danger.

4. Andheri Raat Mein Diya Tere Haath Mein (1986)

Dada Kondke’s 1986 comedy drama Andheri Raat Mein Diya Tere Haath Mein is a well-known movie best remembered for its double meaning funny dialogues. The movie follows the story of two greedy friends, who get involved in criminal activities to make money and make big money as quickly as possible. However, soon after, the two realise the consequences of this crime-ridden lifestyle. While the movie title is one of the most common titles used in the game of dumb charades, the title has no link to the story line, but gives it a fun touch.

5. Salim Langde Pe Mat Ro (1989)

The 1989 film titled as Salim Langde Pe Mat Ro is set in the 1980s period of unstable political situation, which led to continuous communal and social riots in the country. The movie follows the story of a young man named Salim Pasha (Pavan Malhotra), who has a physical disability, and takes to the world of crime to make people respect him. However, a series of events like the untimely death of his brother, a documentary film showing the after-effects of the riot and many more shakes him and brings change in him. Despite being a changed man, Salim's past never stops haunting him, and in the end of the movie, he finally gets killed by the rival gang, leaving his family and friends devastated, which somewhat justifies the title which means ‘don’t cry for Salim, the disabled man’.

6. Chain Kulii Ki Main Kulii (2007)

Karanjeet Saluja’s 2007 comedy movie Chain Kulii Ki Main Kulii follows the story of an orphan boy named Karan, who has only one dream to have a family of his own and wishes that someday he gets adopted by loving parents. His simple life takes a turn, when he gets his hands on a magic bat, which helps him land a place in the Indian cricket team. He scores a perfect six or four every time his bat touches the ball, which gets him all the fame. The boy uses a mantra while heating the shot, which reads - ‘Chain Kulii Ki Main Kulii’ and thus, the mantra becomes the title of the movie making it one of the weird and funny Hindi film names.

7. Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana (2012)

The 2012 romantic comedy drama Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana, directed by Sameer Sharma features Kunal Kapoor and Huma Qureshi in the lead roles. The movie follows the story of a young man named Omi, who returns to his hometown in India from London. Here, he decides to rediscover the secret family chicken recipe called Chicken Khurana that has been in his family for ages, which can finally change his and his family’s fortune. The 2013 comedy drama Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, revolves around an elderly man named Harry Mandola (Pankaj Kapur), his daughter, Bijlee (Anushka Sharma) and his assistant, Matru (Imran Khan), who live in a small village. Their life is full of chaos and things get worse, when Bijlee, who is in love with Matru, decides to get married to the son of a powerful politician for the sake of her father. The romantic comedy drama Ramaiya Vastavaiya, directed by Prabhu Deva, follows the story of a city boy named Ram (Girish Kumar), who falls in love with a village belle named Sona (Shruti Haasan). However, when his mother insults Sona, Sona’s brother Raghuveer restricts the two from meeting each other, but after continuous pursuance of Ram, Raghuveer gives him one chance to prove his worthiness for Sona. The literal meaning of Ramaiya Vastavaiya in Telugu is that Ram will come, which portrays the deepest desire and hope of Sona which the Hindi-speaking audience could not connect.

10. Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi (2014)

The 2014 comedy drama Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi, directed by Aman Sachdeva, follows the story of a young boy named Kuku Mathur, played by actor Siddharth Gupta, who is very close to his friend Ronnie, played by actor Ashish Juneja. However, their lives take a turn when Ronnie gets busy managing his family business, while Kuku is left alone. Kuku tries his best to get the attention of his friend Ronnie, but when he fails to do it in the traditional way, he tries unconventional ways to get him back, which gets Kuku into trouble. 11. Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (2018)

Luv Ranjan-directed romantic comedy drama Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety follows the story of two childhood best friends Sonu (Kartik Aaryan) and Titu (Sunny Singh). Sonu never approves any of the girlfriends of his innocent friend Titu, as they have some or the other problem in them. When Titu finally decides to get married to a girl named Sweety (Nushrratt Bharuccha), Sonu decides to step in and reveal that Sweety is just behind Titu’s money. Just like Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola (2013), the movie gets the inspiration for its title from the names of the lead characters in the movie, but the peculiar way of structuring the title makes it more like a tongue twister.

12. Gulabo Sitabo (2020)

Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana starrer comedy drama Gulabo Sitabo, directed by Shoojit Sircar, follows the story of a stingy elderly man named Mirza (Amitabh Bachchan), who lives with his wife in a huge, but old house. Mirza is a ghar-jamai, who is regarded as a greedy miser by other people, who married a woman 17 years older than him for her money. In the present, Mirza is at war with his tenant, Baankey (Ayushmann Khurrana), who lives with his mother and three sisters. Due to the financial crisis, Baankey struggles to pay the rent, and Mirza tries his best to evict Baankey, but he is adamant to stay. This weird yet funny Bollywood title takes its inspiration from the traditional puppet show of Uttar Pradesh ‘Gulabo Sitabo’ revolving around two women, a simple Sitabo and headstrong Gulabo.
