One of the most successful father-son duos of Bollywood, Raj Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor are so similar in many ways. Rishi Kapoor started his acting career with Raj Kapoor’s Mera Naam Joker (1970), in which he played young Raj Kapoor. While other sons of Raj Kapoor were over shadowed by his popularity, Rishi Kapoor emerged as one of the best romantic heroes of his times and went on to climb the ladder of success. In 1950, Raj Kapoor featured in P. L. Santoshi’s romantic drama Sargam, alongside Rehana. In 1979, Rishi Kapoor starred in K. Vishwanath’s movie with the same title, alongside Jaya Prada.

B. R. Chopra’s 1963 romantic drama Gumrah starred Sunil Dutt, Ashok Kumar, Mala Sinha and Nirupa Roy. Thirty years later, Sanjay Dutt featured in Mahesh Bhatt’s action crime drama Gumrah, alongside Sridevi.

Sunil Dutt starred in the 1972 action drama Zameen Aasmaan, directed by A. Veerappan, co-starring Ashok Kumar, Rekha and Yogita Bali. Sanjay Dutt starred in Bharat Rangachary’s 1984 film Zameen Aasmaan, alongside Anita Raj.

One of the most influential persons of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan was the most dominant actor during the 1970s and 1980s, who continues to impress the audience with his work till date and is often referred to as the ‘angry young man’ of Bollywood. Born to this superstar, actor Abhishek Bachchan started his career with J. P. Dutta’s Refugee (2000), and eventually rose to fame.

Amitabh Bachchan played the role of Vijay in Raj Khosla’s 1980 action drama Dostana, co-starring Shatrughan Sinha and Zeenat Aman. On the other hand, Abhishek Bachchan starred in Tarun Mansukhani’s romantic comedy Dostana, co-starring John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra.

Born as Ravi Kapoor, Jeetendra is best known for his unique style of dancing and acting skills. He was at the peak of his career during late 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, during which he was frequently paired with top actresses like Rekha, Reena Roy, Moushumi Chatterjee, Jaya Prada and Sridevi. His son, actor Tusshar Kapoor gained immense popularity with his role as Lucky in the Golmaal film series. This cinematic father-son duo too have featured in different movies with the same title. In 1982, Jeetendra featured in Narendra Bedi’s action drama Insaan, alongside Vinod Khanna and Reena Roy. In 2005, Tusshar Kapoor was seen in K. Subash’s multi-starrer masala film Insan.

The ‘He-man’ of Bollywood, Dharmendra has worked in over 300 films in his acting career spanning over five decades, making him one of the actors with the longest careers in Bollywood. He was also awarded the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997 for his contribution to Hindi cinema. Like their father, Dharmendra’s sons – Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, became successful Bollywood actors, while Sunny Deol was an action hero, Bobby Deol has an image of a romantic Bollywood hero.

Dharmendra starred in Basu Chatterjee’s 1978 romantic comedy drama Dillagi, alongside Hema Malini. While his sons, Sunny and Bobby Deol starred in 1999 romantic comedy drama Dillagi, which was directed by Sunny Deol and produced by Dharmendra.

He has played lead roles in several movies and was at the peak of his career in 1982 when he took a temporary break from his film career to follow spiritual guru Osho. Vinod Khanna’s sons Akshaye Khanna and Rahul Khanna are actors, just like their father, and like others on the list, these father-son duos of Bollywood have acted in different movies with the same title.

Vinod Khanna starred in the 1971 comedy-drama Hungama, co-starring Kishore Kumar, and Zeenat Aman. Akshaye Khanna was seen in Priyadarshan’s multi-starrer film Hungama (2003).
