R. J. Gururaj was one of Bollywood’s most promising cameramen who assisted ace Hindi cinema cinematographer Anil Mehta in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Lagaan before getting his first break in the Abhishek Bachchan and Lara Dutt starrer Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost in 2003. He helmed the camera for famous films such as Ek Ajnabee (2005), Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007), Mission Istaanbul: Darr Ke Aagey Jeet Hai! (2008), Gali Gali Chor Hai (2012), and Zanjeer (2013). Gururaj Jois breathed his last at the age of 53 on 27 November 2023 following a heart attack in Bangalore.
