Helen Ann Richardson, better known by her first name Helen, is an Indian actress and dancer, who had an Anglo-Indian origin. She has appeared in over 700 films in a career span of over seven decades. She usually appeared in small supporting roles or in dance numbers. Helen was one of the earliest popular dancers of Indian cinema who made the cabaret dance form popular in Bollywood. She got her first big break in the 1958 crime drama Howrah Bridge, in which she performed on the song ‘Mera Naam Chin Chin Chu’. Other movies featuring her include Imaan Dharam (1977), Sholay (1975), Don (1978), Lahu Ke Do Rang (1979), Dostana (1980), Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) and Mohabbatein (2000). Helen married twice, her first marriage was to the filmmaker Prem Narayan Arora in 1957, who was 27 years older than her, but the two divorced in 1974. In 1981, she married actor-director-screenwriter Salim Khan, who was already married to Salma Khan but took Helen as his second wife.
