The Train is a crime mystery thriller based on the 1968 Kannada film called Bangalore Mail starring Raj Kumar. Inspector Shyam (Rajesh Khanna) is given the case of cracking the nexus of criminals who commit major crimes by murdering jewelers on a train.  Shyam gets a few clues through which he finally gets hold of the gang. Neeta (Nanda) plays his love interest while Lily (Helen) plays the role of a dancer cum vamp.
