Sayedna Iftekhar Ahmed Sharif, popularly known as Iftekhar, was an Indian actor who was often typecast in the role of a police officer. Most of his close relatives migrated to Pakistan after partition, but he decided to stay in India. He struggled a lot before he was introduced to Ashok Kumar, who offered him his first role in Muqaddar (1950). He acted in over 400 films in his career that spanned from 1937 to 1992. Some important movies of his career include Bandini (1963), Sawan Bhadon (1970), The Train (1970), Raja Rani (1973), Deewaar (1975), Khel Khel Mein (1975), Agent Vinod (1977), Don (1978) and others.
