Jamai Raja is a romantic comedy drama. The movie follows the story of a rich and proud woman named Durgeshwari Devi (Hema Malini), who lives in a palatial house with her family. She wants her daughter, Rekha (Madhuri Dixit), to get married in a rich family like theirs. However, her plan fails when Rekha falls in love with Raja (Anil Kapoor), a poor but intelligent man. Durgeshwari tries to humiliate him, and asks him to be a ‘Ghar Jamai’, in hopes that he’ll back out. However, her plans backfire, when Raja outdoes all her tricks and her humiliation tactics go in vain. Will Raja eventually succeed in winning his mother-in-law’s heart?
