Saawan Kumar Tak was a director, producer, writer, actor and lyricist who started his Bollywood career as a producer in 1967 with Naunihal starring Sanjeev Kumar. He made his directorial debut in 1972 with Gomti Ke Kinare which was late Meena Kumari’s last movie. He thereafter directed many Hindi films, including successful films like Saajan Bina Suhagan, Souten, Souten Ki Beti, Sanam Bewafa, and Bewaffa Se Waffa. He has the credit of working with most of the top actors and actresses of the 70s and 80s and often given credit for giving a break to Sanjeev Kumar and Mehmood Junior. He was equally famous for writing lyrics for most of his film songs as most of them had music given by his ex-wife Usha Khanna. He breathed his last in Mumbai in 2022.
